Physio Laura Finucane takes over president's reins at international body
Laura Finucane will be the president of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT) until 2024. Formerly the federation's vice president, Laura was recently voted in as president. She is a consultant musculoskeletal physiotherapist in the NHS who specialises in treating people with spinal conditions. A University of Brighton fellow, Laura is an external examiner and tutor for the Masters course leading to membership of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). The MACP is a professional network that is recognised by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
IFOMPT represents groups of manipulative physical therapists who have completed stringent post-registration/post-graduate specialisation programmes in neuro-muskuloskeletal disorders. Formed in 1974 and a subgroup of World Physiotherapy, IFOMPT encourages improved patient management through its standards document and by actively endorsing evidence-based practice.
