Physiotherapists are being invited to apply for awards worth up to £500,000 to help the Private Physiotherapy Educational Foundation (PPEF) achieve its key objectives for the profession.

The PPEF’s main objective is the ‘advancement of research and education in the field of physiotherapy for the benefit of the public’. A charity and limited company, PPEF was created in 2001, thanks to funding from benefactor Kenneth Balfour.

Trustees are offering a one-off award, spread over several years, to celebrate the PPEF's Silver Jubilee, which falls in 2026. Bids are being invited for a programme of work that applicants – who do not have to be physios – believe will help the foundation to achieve its aims.

Programmes of work should run for from three to five years (beginning in 2024) and have a total value of up £500,000 that will be paid in stages.

The trustees want to attract a wide a range of applications and have given the three following examples as guidance

  • a programme of research
  • an education programme
  • a programme of innovation

To book a place at an open online meeting that starts at 1pm on 28 March, email: admin@ppef.org.uk Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their proposals to trustees on 9 November (and will be notified by 9 October if they have reached that stage).

To request an information pack and application form, email admin@ppef.org.uk The deadline for applications is midnight on 31 July 2023.
